Dad and entrepreneurship: my life, my choice
Leaving my job to become an entrepreneur was the best decision of my life!
We are not going to lie to each other, I divided my income by 4. Today I am fully investing in my company and I am not yet earning a decent salary.
It may seem harsh, and yet I have no regrets!
With my partner, we decided to have a child. It was for me the ultimate project, the culmination of my reason for being.
Becoming a father brings responsibilities. I am not talking about a pecuniary responsibility, but a moral one.
The transmission of my life
I wanted to pass on to my child certain human values that were close to my heart. I wanted him to be proud of me, to take the time to share moments with him. I wanted to be with him while he discovered the world, to offer him a deep and not superficial life.
I also wanted to show him that in life you can achieve your desires with work and perseverance, that everyone has a chance and that you have to believe in yourself.
It was not yet born that I had to act to welcome it as it should.
I left a big box and a sales manager position in Lyon, I worked from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., earned a very good living and it was full of outings, restaurants, trips and expenses of all kinds.
But I dropped everything to join the South, its beaches and its sun where my wife had been transferred.
Time to get my bearings and here I am, a business creator!
And although my lifestyle has changed, I am nonetheless an epicurean who loves life as a whole.
Today I have motivated and loyal employees, a growing company, a more than pleasant living environment and above all time for my family.
In a search of lost time
Time ! That's what I came looking for. Time to watch my son grow, to be with him as often as possible.
But make no mistake, being an entrepreneur is not easy! It takes a lot of time, it requires a moral and financial investment. It's exhausting!
But it's so rewarding that it's worth it.
The major difference when you are an entrepreneur is that you manage your time, you are the master of your own life.
That's why I wanted to create this blog: to encourage you, to give advice and help, on my humble scale, all those who would like to get started or who have already done so and above all so that together we share our experiences.
Many of us want to be present fathers. Cool dads or hen dads, we are entrepreneurs, 21st century warriors, jacks-of-all-trades, Swiss Army knives, because deep down, that's what being an entrepreneur is: doing everything to succeed.
And my first piece of advice is this:
Go ahead!
Dare, trust, create the world you want your child to grow up in.
